Trek Mount Kilimanjaro

At the summit

Standing just short of 6,000 metres, Mount Kilimanjaro is Africa's highest mountain. Having reached the crater rim of this extinct volcano, the view from the summit as dawn breaks over the Maasai plains is simply breathtaking.

You can walk to the top without any previous climbing experience but Kilimanjaro is not to be taken lightly – reaching the summit requires great stamina. It is an achievable challenge for most given dedication in preparation and determination on the mountain.

  • Trek on the quiet Machame route.
  • Conquer the world’s highest free-standing mountain.
  • No previous climbing experience necessary.
  • Meet a WSPA funded anti-poaching team and learn about their work.

Our trek takes the less-trodden Machame route, allowing us to appreciate the splendour of the surroundings. The terrain changes as you ascend the mountain, passing through thick forest, moorland, scree, lush meadows, barren lunar landscapes and finally the snow-capped summit.

WSPA funds a mobile anti-poaching team that protect the wildlife from illegal poaching and you’ll have the opportunity to meet the team and learn about their vital work. The highlight of the challenge will be spending time with the team and really gaining an insight into the area and the challenges the team face day to day.
