Bosnian member society organises animal lectures

Nov 1, 2006

SOS Sarajevo hold animal welfare lectures

Bosnian member society, Society of Citizens for Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (SOS Sarajevo), has delivered the first two of a series of animal welfare lectures to students in Sarajevo.

The talks focused on bioethics and the positive influence of animals for humans, and were attended by students of the First Gymnasium in Sarajevo, in a local Youth Centre.

Despite operating in difficult conditions, with no financial or technical support, the project has still been a real success.

As Ms. Hiba Sikiric, a professional advisor in the Education Department of the Ministry for Education and Science, who attended the talks, said: “After the lectures, students were asked to discuss the topics covered by the speakers.

This type of interaction gives the best educational effects, and the lectures should involve as many secondary school students from Sarajevo as possible”.

SOS Sarajevo is planning to hold a lecture every few weeks.
