Rosie loves animals

Rosie is thrilled to be taking part in the Bear Adventure.

“I’m so excited. It will be an amazing adventure, especially when we visit WSPA’s bear sanctuary, which will be the climax of the trek for me. I really admire WSPA’s work to protect bears from harm and their campaigns for better treatment for these magnificent animals,” said Rosie.

The actress has supported WSPA for several years and really loves animals. She has two cats, Lenny and Georgie and a dog, called Ainu.

“We are delighted that Rosie able to join the trek, her participation will be a real boost for the whole team of fundraisers taking part, and will help WSPA raise the profile of our work around the world, as well as raising much needed funds,’’ said WSPA UK Regional Director John Gray.

The trek takes place over six days in the stunning Carpathian Mountains of Romania, which are in the midst of the legendary region of Transylvania.

The highlight of the adventure will be a visit to the bear sanctuary funded by WSPA, where some 40 bears now live in safety and relative freedom after being rescued from illegal and sub-standard zoos around the country.

Weekend walks to train for trek

London-born Rosie, 31, will complete the challenge in September this year and intends to spend much of her free time between now and the trek either on long walks or fundraising for WSPA.

“I’m hoping to go on lots of long weekend walks with my husband Scott, who’s really encouraging me to get fit for the event. I will be spending more time in the gym too!” said the actress.
