Factory milk from battery cows? Not in my Cuppa!

Dairy debate says “Not in my Cuppa”

Dec 21, 2010

Stephen Philips MP who launched the debate has in his constituency the little village of Nocton, and its here that plans have been submitted for the construction of the UK’s largest dairy farm – 3700 cows housed in huge barns and with little or no access to grazing.

WSPA’s Not in my Cuppa team was able to spend 15 minutes in the House of Commons last night briefing Stephen Phillips researcher and it was great to hear the MP support so many of our animal welfare arguments and put them as questions to the Agriculture Minister, James Paice MP.

Many of the MPs we’ve met and briefed previously and who are equally concerned about the plans for Nocton spoke in the debate and we’d like to thank Zac Goldsmith MP, Roger Williams MP, Robert Flello MP and Roger Gale MP for their passionate speeches

Unified political concern

It’s clear that the impact of our campaign is being felt in the corridors of power and the strength of feeling amongst people concerned about animal welfare in the UK is hitting home.

The Minister acknowledged the huge volume of correspondence he had received from members of the public regarding the Nocton development, so we’d ask that if you have a few minutes to spare over the Christmas break, write to your MP or to Jim Paice MP at the House of Commons and ask them to say “Not in my Cuppa” to milk from Nocton Dairies.

Please join the campaign and say “not in my cuppa” to factory milk from ‘battery’ cows >>
