Children prove real starz by helping little donkeys

Dec 13, 2010

Pupils from the Little Starz Children’s Centre in Southwest London helped to improve the lives of donkeys in Bethlehem by performing the much-loved Christmas carol Little Donkey.

This week see’s the launch of the World Society for the Protection of Animals (WSPA) Christmas appeal which aims to raise funds that could help the work of the Palestine Wildlife Society (PWLS). PWLS help improve and even save the lives of injured, neglected and abused donkeys, mules and horses in this poverty-stricken part of the world.

To show WSPA supporters the plight of these animals WSPA have put together a video highlighting the often lifesaving work of PWLS - and what better soundtrack could be used to bring together this heart-rending footage at this time of year than the classic song Little Donkey? Listen to the starz in action in our video below.

Real starz

Aged from two to four years old the pupils of the Little Starz Children’s Centre were really excited at the thought of helping animals so far away and despite their young ages all wanted to do their part to help the donkeys by providing the soundtrack to WSPA’s Christmas video.

Teacher Sharon Quinn said “When we were asked to take part in this special recording of Little Donkey all of the children wanted to take part. They all know the story of the nativity and wanted to help make the sad, sick and ill donkeys in Bethlehem know feel better.”

Thanks to the Little Starz the video now has a very moving soundtrack and WSPA would like to thank them for all of their hard work. All of the children proved to live up to the their name and be star singers – you never know we may see them on X-Factor some time in the future!
