Hundreds of zombie fans descended on Leeds for the third annual Zombie Film Festival on Sunday 25th April at the Cottage Road Cinema in Headingley, near Leeds, and raised £2200 for WSPA.
The film line up included: Day of the Dead, Colin, Shaun of the Dead and 28 Days Later.
Dominic Brunt, who plays vet Paddy Kirk, and Mark Charnock, who plays Chef Marlon Dingle, in the ITV 1 soap Emmerdale gave a short introduction to each of the films and there was also an opportunity for a Q&A session with British film director Marc Price, who introduced his film, Colin. The film is named after Mr. Price's steelworker father and cost just £45 to make.
WSPA Ambassador Dominic Brunt says: “I had so much fun. All the zombie fans really got into the feel of the day and most had even transformed themselves into real life zombies. They looked brilliant and the best thing about the festival was that the money we raised helps the World Society for the Protection of Animals’ work around the world. It is a charity that myself and Mark are extremely dedicated to.”
Mark Charnock adds: “WSPA is a charity close to our hearts, so, for fun and to raise money for a good cause we combined our undying love of all things zombie and created a festival that anyone could attend. It was great, people dressed as zombies, with prosthetic arms hanging off. It looked like a real invasion.”
