Help us end the dog meat trade

Oct 14, 2011

WSPA has just launched an appeal to take dog meat off the menu, for good.

In some parts of the world, dogs are still cruelly farmed and painfully slaughtered for their meat.

In South Korea, an estimated two million dogs are killed as part of this unregulated trade.

WSPA's local partners are trying to end this atrocious cruelty, but they need to know that WSPA supporters are joining them in their efforts to expose and stop this trade. Show how much you care for animals and write them a message of support here today >>

Help us stop this suffering

The dogs are kept in open wire cages and forced to lie in their own waste. Then after a brief life deprived of love and care, they are transported to market in tiny cages where they will live, exposed to the wind, rain and sun, until they are selected for slaughter.

WSPA needs your help. By supporting our campaign, not only are you helping to bring about an outright ban, but with your backing we can expose this hellish trade and make sure that people in South Korea are so appalled that they refuse to eat dog meat and the suffering can stop.

While dog meat is still eaten in parts of Asia, the practice and trade has never been legalised, and as a result is unregulated, which means these dogs are exposed to intense suffering.

However, there is hope. Some countries have begun banning the consumption of dog meat and WSPA supports the actions taken by countries such as Taiwan, the Philippines, Singapore and Hong Kong where complete bans on the consumption of dogs and cats are now in place as a result of people speaking out.

Our local partners in South Korea are dedicating their lives to exposing the cruelty of the dog meat trade, to try to end the suffering of so many dogs. Please show your support to help give them the strength to continue.
