Leona Lewis, who is passionate about high animal welfare and a vocal WSPA supporter, has spoken of her distaste of the thought of factory milk from battery cows and linked to our recent Molly the Cow video on her official website >>
“‘I think it’s shocking that in a country like Britain - with our good reputation for animal welfare and farming - that we are even talking about intensive dairy farms,” said the singer.
After Nocton Dairies withdrew their application for a 3,770 cow factory farm last month (February 2011), Leona wants to encourage people to join the campaign to keep momentum going, so supermarkets and the government know that consumers are serious about making a positive change to the UK dairy industry.
“While it is great news that Nocton Dairies have decided not to build their factory dairy farm, we won’t stop until we know factory milk from battery cows will never be allowed in Britain. I hope lots of people join me in saying “not in my cuppa”, before anyone tries to build a mega dairy somewhere else in the UK,” Leona added.
Leona previously pledged her support for WSPA’s Universal Declaration for Animal Welfare campaign at a video and photo shoot at the Sony Music studios in Kensington in November 2009.
