The Women’s Institute will vote whether to join the campaign against mega dairies at their June Annual General Meeting.
The voice of their 200,000 members across the country would add tremendous support to keeping our cows in fields.
The resolution, put forward by the Dilton Marsh WI in Wiltshire urges the group to ‘abhor the practice of factory farming particularly large animals such as pigs and cows’.
The Women’s Institute has a long history of campaigning on milk issues. In 2007 they ran the Great Milk Debate campaign jointly with the National Farmers Union (NFU) for a better price for milk farmers.
If the WI vote to support the Dilton Marsh resolution, it would send a clear message of support to the UK's existing dairy farmers, celebrating and protecting our pasture based dairy farming, as well as our precious countryside.
If you are a WI member, we put forward our case for joining the campaign in this document, which you can view or download here >>
The Not in my Cuppa team would appreciate the opportunity to either supply branches with information or meet to discuss our campaign and how we can work to support the Women’s Institute.
