WSPA has teamed up with The Guardian to help teachers integrate animal welfare into school curriculums.
WSPA Education Coordinator Roy Kareem is blogging for The Guardian’s teaching network, advising primary and secondary school teachers on the best ways to engage young people with animal welfare.
WSPA’s worldwide animal welfare education team works on programmes designed for teachers, students and professionals, reaching thousands of children and adults with a message of compassion.
With an understanding of key animal welfare principles, students and teachers alike come to understand and appreciate the role they can play in improving the lives of the world’s animals.
Roy said: “Developing compassion and respect is at the heart of WSPA’s education work. Resources like our Bears of the World pack offer lots of lesson plans, work sheets and discussion points suitable for both primary and secondary school students.
“Though many bears are facing a crisis in terms of both their welfare and their conservation status, getting young people across the world to become captivated by them is one of the most powerful solutions we hold.”
