This tiger cub was a victim of the illegal wildlife trade. It would have been 10 days old when it was killed, stuffed and mounted; destined to end up on a mantel piece in London.
As the UK’s capital, London is a major hub for the illegal wildlife trade and the new London Mayor has the fate of the city’s wildlife crime policing in their hands.
The Mayor is directly responsible for the Metropolitan Police Service and their budget. It’s vital that they commit to properly resourcing wildlife crime policing.
During the election period, we asked all of the candidates to help us stop this trade in cruelty. Thanks to the 11, 100 of you who took action; three of the major candidates publicly backed our campaign.
But the hard work is not over yet. We need to make sure that wildlife crime policing is on the Mayor’s agenda when they set the first budget of their term.
